Sonokids tips and rules for safe internetting
- Contact
On the internet anyone can pretend to be somebody else. The only thing you know about someone on the internet is that what he or she tells you. He can be a she or the other way round.
If you put your e-mail adress on your MaX website it is easy for anybody to contact you. That is fun but please make sure it keeps on being fun. Never ever make a date with somebody though such e-mail contact to meet in the real world.
In any case, not without discussing it with your parents and they having consented. Especially when your 'contact' tells you to keep the date a secret mention it to your parents right away because then the risk is extra big.
The safest thing to do is to chat and stay in touch with friends you already know, for instance from your neighbourhood or from school. You can also use the M3 chat on your MaX website for that.
You have to add friends to your list for that and they also have to add you to theirs. Just tell them to get themselevs a MaX website! -
Secrets
Never give out any secret or important information over the internet to any person or organisation. That also means no number of your bankaccount, no number of your password and no pincode.
Even if it concerns someone whom you know for real and come across at the internet. Please always bear in mind that there is always the possibility that somebody else is reading along without you noticing it.
Personal things Never tell your address or your (mobile) phonenumber on the internet.
People could easily find out where you live by tracing your phone-number.
You can keep your real name a secret by always using a nickname when on the internet. Please bear in mind that on the internet in principle everything is accessible to anyone and that anyone can in fact read anything which is online.
So in fact it will never be really private.-
weirdo's
If somone tells you strange or scary things or uses abusive language go and tell your parents and simply switch off your computer.
Rules of conduct for online messages
- Never include your phone-number or home-address.
- Be friendly to others like you would like them to be to you also.
- Take into account each others feelings.
- Never use offensive, mean or abusive language.
- Don't type in capitals all the time.
It will make you seam to shout all the time. And it is very irritating for users of screenreaders. - Please remember that in principle anyone can read your messages.
If you feel somebody is breaking the rules, please send an e-mail right away to max@sonokids.com
